Ruben Amorim Announced As New Man Utd Head Coach
Manchester United have appointed Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.
Amorim has signed a contract until the summer of 2027 with the option for a further year.
The former Portugal international will begin his role on Monday, November 11 during the next international break.
In the meantime, Ruud Van Nistelrooy will continue in his role as acting head coach at Old Trafford for three more games against Chelsea, PAOK and Leicester City.
Van Nistelrooy oversaw United's 5-2 win over the Foxes in the Carabao Cup earlier this week.
Amorim is coming in as a replacement for Erik Ten Hag, who was sacked on Monday, with Manchester United 14th on the Premier League table.
The 39-year-old will be in the dugout for Sporting Lisbon's Primeira Liga game against Estrela on Friday.
Amorim has been Sporting manager since March 2020 and has led them to two Primeira Liga titles.
Sporting Lisbon have won all nine of their league games this season, scoring 30 goals and conceding just twice.
His first game in charge of Manchester United will come at Ipswich Town after the November international break.
