Today In History: Harry Kane Makes Goalscoring England Debut Against Lithuania

Kane took just 80 seconds to get on the scoresheet after coming on as a 70th minute substitute.

The then Tottenham Hotspurs striker has since gone on to surpass the man he replaced in that game -Wayne Rooney- as his country's all-time top scorer.

Kane, who now plays for Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga, has since scored 62 goals in 89 caps and is England's captain.

Asked if he knew how long he had taken to get off the mark, Kane said: “Maybe a minute? Eighty seconds? Hey, it’s not too bad!

“It’s the start I dreamed of, it’s a little bit of a blur at the minute. It’s the best moment by far, to represent your country at senior level is the top. Hopefully I can keep doing it and it’s the first of many.”
