Borussia Dortmund Sign Stuttgart Captain Waldemar Anton On Four-Year Contract
Stuttgart captain Waldemar Anton has completed a transfer to Borussia Dortmund for €22m.
Anton has signed a four-year contract and becomes new Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin's first summer signing.
Anton spent four years at Stuttgart and helped them finish second in the Bundesliga last season.
The 27-year-old will help fill the void left by the departure of Mats Hummels at the end of last season.
"I'm really looking forward to my first game at Signal Iduna Park, the fans and my new teammates," Anton said.
"I wasn't originally planning to change clubs, but then Borussia Dortmund came along - a top club that had just reached the Champions League final. That shows what potential this club has.
"Everyone at BVB gave me the feeling right from the start that they really wanted to sign me and that I could and should play an important role. I'm really up for it."
Anton, who was born in Uzbekistan, was part of the Germany squad at EURO 2024, where he made two appearances before their quarterfinal exit to Spain.
