Morata Celebrates EURO 2024 Triumph With Transfer To AC Milan
Alvaro Morata has completed his transfer from Atletico Madrid to AC Milan for £11m.
Morata is fresh from captaining the Spanish national team to EURO 2024 glory.
The 31-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the option for a further year.
Morata is making a return to Italy, where he won two Serie A titles across two spells with Juventus and scored 59 goals in 185 appearances.
The former Real Madrid and Chelsea striker is new AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca's first summer signing.
“AC Milan is proud to announce the signing of Álvaro Borja Morata Martín from Club Atlético de Madrid. Captain of the Spanish national team, with which he recently won the European Championship, Morata has signed with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year,” Milan said in a statement on Friday.
“The current Spanish captain has played 80 games for his national team, scoring 36 goals, and has won both the recent European Championship and the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League.
“He has chosen to wear the number 7.”
Morata scored 21 goals in 48 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season.
