Wales Appoint Craig Bellamy As New National Team Manager
Wales have appointed Craig Bellamy as their new national team manager.
The former Liverpool, Newcastle United and Manchester City winger is coming in as a replacement for Rob Page, who was sacked last month after four years in charge.
Bellamy has been handed a four-year contract to help revive the fortunes of a Wales side who failed to qualify for EURO 2024.
“It’s an incredible honour for me to be given the opportunity to lead my country, and it’s the proudest moment of my career," Bellamy said following his appointment.
"It was always my ultimate dream to become the Cymru head coach and I am ready for the challenge.
“I will give my full commitment to develop this team, and I am passionate to bring continued success into Welsh football."
Bellamy earned 78 caps and scored 19 goals as a player for Wales.
This will be his first senior role in management, having overseen assistant coaching duties at Anderlecht and Burnley under Vincent Kompany.
