Arsenal Complete Signing Of Riccardo Calafiori From Bologna

Calafiori has agreed a five-year contract with the Gunners.

The 22-year-old was one of the breakout stars at EURO 2024, starring in Italy's three group stage games before their elimination in his suspension-induced absence in the round of 16 against Switzerland.

Calafiori made 30 appearances in his only season with Bologna as they finished fifth in Serie A to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Calafiori, who can play at centre back and left back, is Arsenal's second summer signing following permanent acquisition of goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford.

"I'm really happy to be here," said Calafiori. "I waited a lot.

"I hope we are going to do something great this season."

Arsenal's Sporting Director Edu Gaspar added: "It has been a great team effort in completing this transfer, and we welcome Riccardo to the family.

"Riccardo has consistently shown his quality for his club and country. He was one of the best players in Serie A last season and gave strong performances for Italy in the Euros this summer.

"Mikel [Arteta] and our coaches are excited to start working with Riccardo, and we all look forward to seeing him in our shirt."

Calafiori could make his Arsenal debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 17 when the Premier League returns.
