The 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the National Women's Soccer League side with the option for a further year.

Oshoala scored 117 goals in 162 appearances for Barcelona's women's team after joining from Chinese side Dalian Quanjian in January 2019.

The Nigeria international won four league titles and two Women's Champions League trophies during his time with Barcelona.

She is the only female African footballer to win the Champions League.

Oshoala has been crowned African Women's Footballer of the year on six occasions.

"Asisat is a proven goalscorer at the most elite levels of world football," Bay FC general manager Lucy Rushton said.

"To have the opportunity to add a player of Asisat's quality, experience and winning pedigree to our roster is an exciting and important day for the club and the NWSL," Rushton added.

"She brings a top-class mentality to the field combined with pace and technical ability that allows her to lead the line, while also giving those players around her the license to be creative and thrive in space."

Explaining her decision to leave Spain for the United States, the 29-year-old told the Attacking Third podcast: "I stayed five years in Barcelona and that's the longest I've stayed in a club, to be honest. I feel I just want to change, I want to try something different. I just want to have fun and also when I was presented the project of this club, I liked it and I decided to go for it."

Oshoala has won 61 caps for Nigeria, scoring 37 goals.
