Leicester Midfielder Hamza Choudhury Commits International Allegiance To Bangladesh
Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury has switched allegiance to play for the Bangladesh national team.
Choudhury was born in England but qualifies to play for Bangladesh through his ancestry.
FIFA approved the switch on Friday and the 27-year-old is free to represent the South Asian country, who are ranked 185th in the world.
Choudhury played seven times for the England u-21 team but never received a senior call up.
"We are pleased to inform that Hamza Dewan Choudhury has been cleared to play for Bangladesh," said the Bangladesh Football Federation.
"This decision was made by the Player's Status Chamber of the Football Tribunal of Fifa."
Choudhury added: "I'm so happy everything is over the line and I can't wait to be playing for Bangladesh."
Choudhury, who won the FA Cup with Leicester City in 2021, has played twice for the Foxes in the Premier League this term.
