Van De Beek Ends Man Utd Nightmare With Girona Move
Donny Van De Beek has ended his miserable four-year spell at Manchester United by joining Girona for a nominal fee.
Van De Beek managed just 62 appearances and two goals for the Red Devils after joining from Ajax Amsterdam for £35m in the summer of 2020.
The 27-year-old also spent half-a-season loans at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt while on the books of Manchester United but could still not revive his career.
Van De Beek is joining a Girona side who finished third in La Liga last season to qualify for the Champions League.
Girona have paid United €500,000 but the English giants will retain a significant sell-on clause.
In a social media post announcing his exit from Old Trafford, Van de Beek wrote: "Dear Manchester United family. Today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end.
"I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years. From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that. Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home.
"A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable. Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts.
"Good luck to everybody, we’ll meet again."
