Chelsea Welcome Joao Felix Back To Stamford Bridge On A Permanent Deal

Felix spent the second half of the 2022/2023 campaign on loan at Stamford Bridge from Atletico and scored four goals in 20 appearances.

The 24-year-old Portugal international went on loan again last season to Barcelona and found the back of the net ten times in 44 games.

Chelsea have paid Atletico £46m and Felix has signed a seven-year contract.

‘I’m really happy to be back at Chelsea and I can’t wait to get started,’ Joao said. ‘I can see some familiar faces from the last time I was here, which is always nice.

‘I loved my time here before and I told my friends and family that I’d love to return to the Premier League one day. To do that with Chelsea is a great feeling and I’m excited to be back.

’Speaking in a press conference, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca added: "He's a good player and the club already knows him from two years ago. The good thing about Joao is he can play different positions with us - inside, as a No 9 and outside."

Felix joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica in 2019 and went on to win one Spanish La Liga title during his time at the club.
