Equatorial Guinea Suspend 2023 AFCON Top Scorer Nsue For Indiscipline
Equatorial Guinea have suspended the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer Emilio Nsue with immediate effect.
Nsue is alleged to have been involved in various acts of misconduct during Equatorial Guinea's stay in Ivory Coast.
Pending conclusion into investigations, Nsue will remain sidelined from the national team.
The 34-year-old, who plays for Intercity in the third tier of Spanish football, was the surprise top scorer at AFCON 2023 with five goals in four games.
But he missed a penalty in the round of 16 against Guinea which contributed to Equatorial Guinea's elimination.
The Equtorial Guinea football federation have not disclosed details of Nsue's alleged misconduct.
Nsue is a former Spain youth international, and is Equatorial Guinea's all-time top scorer with 22 goals in 43 games.
