Pochettino Appointed New Manager Of USA Men's National Team
Mauricio Pochettino has been appointed as the new manager for the USA Men's national team.
Pochettino was unattached after leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
The 52-year-old will be leading the USA at the 2026 FIFA World Cup which they will co-host with Mexico and Canada.
Pochettino will replace Gregg Berhalter, who was sacked after USA exited the 2024 Copa America at the group stage.
Pochettino told the U.S. Soccer website: "The decision to join U.S. Soccer wasn't just about football for me; it’s about the journey that this team and this country are on.
"The energy, the passion, and the hunger to achieve something truly historic here – those are the things that inspired me.
"The opportunity to lead the U.S. men's national team in front of fans who are just as passionate as the players is something I couldn't pass up.
"I see a group of players full of talent and potential, and together, we’re going to build something special that the whole nation can be proud of."
After managerial stints at Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspurs and Paris Saint Germain, this will be Pochettino's first job at international level.
