Lamela Announces Sevilla Departure After Three Years
Erik Lamela will leave Sevilla when his contract expires in June.
The 32-year-old Argentine has spent the last three years with Sevilla, having joined from Tottenham Hotspurs in 2021.
Lamela helped Sevilla win the Europa League last season but injuries restricted him to just 19 appearances in the 2023/2024 campaign.
"Like all farewells, it's a little sad at the moment (something) that a player never expects, but I understand as a great professional that these kinds of moments come and that the cycles end," said Lamela in a video on the club's website on Tuesday.
"When we won the Europa League, it was what made this club enter my heart. I will never forget it and I am happy to be able to give back at least a little of what this club gave me. Thank you."
Sevilla will be looking to improve upon a 14th place finish in La Liga in the just ended campaign next season.
