Harry Maguire Excluded From England's EURO 2020 Squad
Harry Maguire has confirmed he will miss EURO 2024 after failing to sufficiently recover from a calf injury.
Maguire has left the England camp after being told he was one of seven players set to be cut from manager Gareth Southgate's 33-man provisional squad.
The 31-year-old has not played in over a month because of the injury and missed Manchester United's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
In a post on X, Maguire wrote: "I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.
"Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted.
"For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it boys.
"Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season."
Maguire has won 63 caps for the England national team since his debut in 2017.
He was named in the team of the tournament at EURO 2020 as England reached the final, losing to Italy.
