Today In History: Everton Goalkeeper Tim Howard Scores From Own Half
On this day in 2012, Tim Howard became one of only six goalkeepers to score a goal in English Premier League history.
Playing for Everton at the time, the American shot stopper made a 101-yard clearance in his own half which bounced over visiting Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan to give the home side the lead.
Everton would go on lose 2-1 however, but Howard earned himself a piece of Premier League history.
A modest Howard described his only goal in professional football as 'disappointing' as he had some sympathy for the opposition goalkeeper.
Other goalkeepers with Premier League goals to their credit include Peter Schmeichel, Brad Freidel, Paul Robinson, Asmir Begovic and Alisson Becker.
