Today In History: Beckham Signs As Free Agent For PSG At Age 37
Former England captain David Beckham signed for Paris Saint Germain on this day in 2013.
The 37-year-old was a free agent after leaving Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy the previous month.
Beckham signed a five-month contract in the French capital and donated all his wages to charity during his stay at the Parc Des Princes.
“That’s one of the things we are very excited about and proud to do,” Beckham said. “It’s something exciting and something I’m not sure has been done before.”
PSG was Beckham's final club in a long career that also saw him turn out for Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
He made 13 appearances in total for PSG and walked away with a Ligue 1 winners medal at the end of the season.
Beckham was capped 115 times by the England national team.
