Ralph Hasenhuttl Appointed New Wolfsburg Manager

Wolfsburg sacked Niko Kovac on Sunday after a 3-1 defeat to Augsburg saw them drop to 14th on the table, six points above the relegation zone.

Hasenhuttl had been without a club since getting sacked by Southampton in November 2022.

The 56-year-old Austrian has previously managed in the Bundesliga with Ingolstadt and RB Leipzig.

Wolfsburg are without a win in each of their last 11 Bundesliga games.

"The task is clear," Hasenhüttl said at his official unveiling on Monday.

"We have to try to get back to winning ways in order to stay in the league.

"Ultimately, it's about getting the team playing my style of football as quickly as possible. I'm very happy to be back in the Bundesliga."

Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz added: "We have a short-term situation in which we need to quickly restore our belief in winning."

"The other perspective is long-term planning: we want to focus on young players with development potential. Ralph can do both things."

Hasenhuttl's first game in charge of Wolfsburg will come against Werder Bremen after the international break.
