Coventry City Appoint Frank Lampard As New Manager
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new manager of Championship side Coventry City.
Lampard has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the 17th placed side who are just two points above the relegation zone.
Coventry sacked previous manager Mark Robins earlier this week after seven years in charge.
Lampard had been out of work since leaving Chelsea in May 2023, when he took charge at Stamford Bridge on an interim basis.
The 46-year-old has also managed Derby County in the championship and Everton in the Premier League since retiring as a player in 2017.
“I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach," said Coventry owner Doug King.
"Frank cut his teeth in the Championship and knows what is needed in this league to be successful.
“His experiences thereafter at Chelsea and Everton will ensure he brings to our talented squad clear understanding of exactly what is needed to succeed at the very top level that we as a club are striving to reach.”
Lampard's first game for Coventry will come against Cardiff City on Saturday.
