Several media outlets in England have this week reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS group, who took over football operations at Old Trafford earlier this year, are lining up a coaching role for O'Neil, although it is unclear whether it will be as a replacement for Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag.

O'Neil took over at Wolves just two days before the start of this season, but has steered them into the top half of the table and are eyeing European qualification.

The former Bournemouth manager says he is honoured to be linked with a club of United's stature but is happy in his current surroundings.

The 40-year-old said of the reports: "I don't know where it came from."

He added: "Growing up, Liverpool and Manchester United always felt special. It's an honour to be linked even if there's no truth in it. I love it here [at Wolves].

"I'm a head coach, I'm always going to be a head coach. I'm really enjoying my time at Wolves. I was only made aware of it [the links] by the media team to prepare for your questions."

Wolves take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
