Luis Alberto Tells Lazio He Wants To Leave This Summer
Luis Alberto has told Lazio he wants to leave the club at the end of this season.
The Spanish midfielder is contracted to Lazio until the summer of 2027 but feels is time to say goodbye.
Alberto joined Lazio from Liverpool in the summer of 2016 and has made 302 appearances, scoring 51 goals and assisting 76 times.
“The last few weeks have been difficult for me. I don’t know what the project is going to be, but I can say that I will certainly not be part of the project for next season,” he told DAZN straight after the final whistle of a 4-1 win over Salernitana.
“I already asked the club to terminate my contract, I do not want to take one more Euro from Lazio. I think it is only right now to step aside. This club has given me so much, but the time has come to step aside and leave it to others.”
The 31-year-old has won one Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups during his time with Lazio.
Alberto has one cap for the Spanish national team.
