Spurs Sign Dragusin From Genoa For £25m

Dragusin has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract to become Tottenham's second capture of the January transfer window after former Chelsea forward Timo Werner joined on loan from RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old Romanian international could make his debut against Manchester United this weekend.

Dragusin played a key role in Genoa gaining promotion from Serie B last season and played all 19 Serie A games for them this term, scoring two goals.

His arrival will offset the loss of Eric Dier to Bayern Munich while Spurs have recently struggled with injuries to key central defenders.

Bayern Munich and Napoli were also keen on signing Dragusin before he opted for the North London side.

"I just feel excited. I feel very, very happy [to be here]. It's a big step for me, but I feel it's the right step." Dragusin told Spurs' official website after joining the club.

"I can say the decision was inside my heart. I had a couple of talks with the coach and I felt a really good connection with him.

"He told me that he really wanted me to join, he likes the way I play and he thinks that I am a good fit for the team. I like this kind of football with a high line aggressive with a lot of pace at the back to defend.

"It's a dream to come and play football for this kind of team."
