Nick Pope Injury Puts De Gea In The Frame For Newcastle Utd Move
David De Gea could be set for a shock return to the Premier League after being linked with a move to Newcastle United.
Newcastle's number one goalkeeper Nick Pope picked up a nasty-looking shoulder injury against Manchester United on Saturday.
The England international could be out for an extended period of time, leaving manager Eddie Howe to choose between Martin Dubravka, who replaced him on Saturday, and Loris Karius.
De Gea is still a free agent after leaving Manchester United this summer despite being linked with clubs including Al Nassr, Al Ittihad and Inter Miami.
The 33-year-old spent 12 years with the Red Devils, having joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 and made 545 appearances, winning one Premier League title, the Europa League, two League Cups and one FA Cup.
The 33-year-old kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League last season with 17.
De Gea won Manchester United's player of the year four times during his stay at Old Trafford.
