Saudi Arabia Terminate Contract With Roberto Mancini As National Team Manager
Saudi Arabia have terminated their contract with Roberto Mancini as national team manager.
Mancini had been in the role for the last 14 months after being hired as a replacement for Herve Renard in August 2023.
Mancini moved to Saudi Arabia just weeks after stepping down as manager of the Italy national team.
But his time in charge of the Saudis has not gone according to plan.
Saudi Arabia were knocked out of the Asian Cup in the round of 16 by South Korea in January and they find themselves outside the automatic qualification places for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“The Saudi soccer federation’s Board of Directors and the national team coach, Italian Roberto Mancini reached a joint agreement on Thursday to end the contractual relationship,” the national team posted on social media platform X.
The former Inter Milan and Manchester City manager won just seven of his 18 matches in charge of Saudi Arabia.
