Man Utd Reach Agreement With Cameroon To Delay Onana Release For AFCON
Manchester United have reached an agreement with the Cameroon national team to delay the release of goalkeeper Andre Onana for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Selected players for Africa's flagship football tournament have already started linking up with their countries to begin preparations.
The rescheduled AFCON 2023 gets underway in Ivory Coast on January 13 but Cameroon will play their first game against Guinea two days later.
Manchester United play Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Monday before hosting Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League on January 14 and Onana will be available for both games before flying out to join his national team just in time for their opening game of the tournament.
Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan last summer when he had called time on his international career before making a u-turn to play for his country again.
The 27-year-old has made 28 appearances for Manchester United this season in what has been a mixed start to his career in England.
Cameroon will also play Senegal and Gambia in their group.
