Bayern Munich Announce New Contract For Josip Stanisic Until 2029

Stanisic has recently returned from a productive loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

The 24-year-old was born in Munich and came through Bayern's youth ranks but represents Croatia at international level.

Stanisic played a part in three Bundesliga triumphs with Bayern Munich before his temporary stint at Leverkusen last season.

"We are happy to be extending extending Josip's contract on a long-term basis," FCB sporting head Max Eberl noted in a club statement.

"He was born in Munich and already played for FC Bayern as a youth player. Stani knows what's important at FC Bayern. He has established himself at the highest level in Leverkusen and with the Croatian national team - we are looking forward to the coming years with him."

“I’m pleased to have signed a new contract at my club, FC Bayern," the player himself added.

"I’ve been a fan of this club for as long as I can remember. I’m grateful to Leverkusen because I learned a lot there – both on and off the pitch. I got to play a lot of games, show what I can do and get into a rhythm. I’ve grown in confidence and I think I’m coming back a better player. 

"My objectives are clear: give everything for FC Bayern and win as many trophies as possible. It’s nice to be back home.”
