CAF Announce December/January As Hosting Period For 2025 AFCON
The Confederation Of African Football (CAF) have announced that the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will take place between December 2025 and January 2026.
Originally scheduled for June and July 2025 in Morocco, CAF have been forced to reschedule Africa's flagship football tournament to avoid a potential clash with the rebranded FIFA Club World Cup in the summer of 2025.
It will be the first time an AFCON will be contested during the festive period.
The tournament will run from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe said: “I am confident that the CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 will be extremely successful and will be the best AFCON in the history of this competition.
The Royale Moroccan Football Federation president Mr Fouzi Lekjaa added: “We hope that the CAF TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 will be the best event to honour Africa and Morocco will make available the best conditions to host the rest of Africa and the World.”
Ivory Coast hosted and won this year's edition of the AFCON.
