Motta joins Juventus as a replacement for Massimiliano Allegri after leaving Bologna at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

The 41-year-old secured Champions League football for Bologna for the first time in the club's history with a fifth place finish last season.

"Juventus is delighted to announce Thiago Motta as the new First Team head coach. The Italian-Brazilian has signed an agreement with the Club until June 30, 2027," Juventus said in a statement.

Born in Brazil, Motta represented Italy 30 times at international level.

"I am really happy to begin a new chapter at the helm of a great club like Juventus," he told the club's official website.

"I thank the owners and the management, who can be sure of my ambition to keep the Juventus flag flying high and to please the fans."

Motta represented the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Genoa, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain during his playing career.
