Crystal Palace Rule Out Guehi Sale On Transfer Deadline Day

Guehi has courted interest from several clubs during the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United having four bids turned down for the England international.

Palace did not flinch after being approached for Guehi, especially after selling fellow defender Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £30m.

With the summer transfer window slamming shut later on Friday, Glasner is pleased that Guehi will be staying put at Selhurst Park.

"It was never really in doubt," said Glasner. "Congratulations to Crystal Palace, to the chairman, to the owners, that they didn't give in.

"Especially after the transfer of Joachim Andersen, it was very important that Marc stays.

"Also thank you to Marc. We were always close and talking a lot. All of the rumours didn't influence his performance, his mood, his professionalism.

"He always told me he is not pushing to leave Crystal Palace and for me that is the most important thing."

The 24-year-old joined Palace from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and has received international recognition during his time at the club.

Guehi excelled for England at this summer's European Championship in Germany, featuring in six of their seven games at the tournament.

Crystal Palace travel to Chelsea on Sunday looking to pick up their first point of the season.
