Chelsea Stand By Mudryk In Failed Drug Test Case
Chelsea are standing behind Mykhailo Mudryk as the Ukrainian fights to clear his name after testing positive for a banned substance.
Mudryk has been provisionally suspended by the Football Association after a routine urine test led to the discovery of the banned substance meldonium in his system.
The 23-year-old maintains his innocence, saying he has never knowingly taken any banned substance.
He will not be able to train or play for Chelsea until the FA concludes their investigation.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says the club will support Mudryk in this troubled time.
We support Mykhailo and trust means that we believe Mykhailo," said Maresca.
"The club, the coaching staff and all of the people that are inside the training ground - we support and we trust Mykhailo.
"I think he is going to come back but we don't know when. But for sure he is going to come back."
"Any kind of player that this kind of things happens to, they need support, you would need support and I would need support," said Maresca.
"It is not about his age or the country that he comes from."
Mudryk could be banned for up to four years if found guilty.
