Chelsea Announce Signing Of Villarreal Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen
Chelsea have announced the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal for £20m.
Jorgensen arrives at Stamford Bridge on a seven-year contract.
He broke into the Villarreal first team last season, having joined the club as a 14-year-old, and made 37 appearances in La Liga.
Jorgensen is a Denmark youth international but was born in Sweden.
Jorgensen has already joined the Chelsea squad in the USA as they continue their preparation for the new season.
Speaking to Chelsea's club channels, the 22-year-old said: "This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates.
"It was very important for me to come here as quickly as possible and get involved as early as I could to be prepared for the new season, to learn how the manager wants to play, and to get to know everyone."
"I am very happy with how the last 12 months have panned out. I am very confident in myself and I know what qualities I have," he added.
"Luckily I had the chance to show myself on the biggest stage in Spain and now I am very happy to have the chance to do that at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"I always liked watching Chelsea because I watched a lot of Petr Cech growing up, so Chelsea were one of my favourite teams to follow."
Jorgensen will compete with Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic for the number one spot at Chelsea.
