Tottenham Extend Werner Loan Deal For One More Year
Tottenham Hotspurs have extended Timo Werner's loan from RB Leipzig for one more season.
Werner joined Spurs in the January transfer window on a temporary deal until the end of the season and scored two goals in 14 appearances before a hamstring injury cut his season short in April.
Spurs had the option to make the move permanent this summer for £15m but the North London side have re-negotiated with Leipzig and will have the opportunity to buy Werner for £8.5m at the end of the 2024/2025 season.
In a video released by Spurs on Tuesday evening, Werner said: "I'm happy to be here in north London. I see how good the club is, how good we are as a team.
"I feel already in the stadium that they are behind me and that they're very happy when I score. Spurs is a really, really good place to stay at."
Werner spent two seasons with Chelsea between 2020 and 2022, scoring 23 goals in 89 games and winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
The 28-year-old will miss the upcoming European Championships in his home country Germany because of his injury.
