The game at the Mestalla Stadium ended 2-2 but Real Madrid felt aggrieved when Bellingham headed in a cross seconds after the full time whistle had been blown.

Bellingham angrily confronted referee Jesus Gil Manzano as Real Madrid's protests continued.

The official referee’s match report, published online an hour after the game, said: “In minute 999 (sic), the player (5) Bellingham, Jude Victor William, was sent off for the following motive: After the end of the game and while still on the pitch, he came running over to me in an aggressive way shouting, repeatedly: ‘It’s a f*****g goal’.”

Aside his two-game ban, Bellingham has been fined €600 while Real Madrid will also have to pay a €700 penalty.

The 20-year-old will therefore miss Real Madrid's upcoming La Liga games against Celta Vigo and Osasuna but will be able to return against Athletic Bilbao on March 31.

Bellingham is the top scorer in La Liga this season with 16 goals.
