Robbie Keane Quits Role As Manager Of Maccabi Tel Aviv
Robbie Keane has left his role as manager of Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv after a year in charge.
Keane signed a two-year contract when he joined in June last year and won the Israel Premier League and Israel Toto Cup in his first full-time managerial position.
In the immediate wake of his departure, Keane told the club's official website: "It has been a tough decision for me to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv FC. I would like to thank the owner, all the players, coaches and the fans for making this an unforgettable season.
"I am very proud of everything we have achieved together as a team and most proud of the hard work and dedication which resulted in winning the championship and Toto Cup.
"Wishing everyone involved at the club all the best for the Champions League and season ahead."
Keane is the record goalscorer for the Republic of Ireland with 68 goals in 146 appearances.
He also turned out for Inter Milan, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers and LA Galaxy during his playing career.
