Osimhen, Salah And Hakimi Battle For 2023 African Footballer Of The Year Award
Victor Osimhen, Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah are the final three contenders for the 2023 African Footballer of the year award.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Morocco on Monday.
Two-time winner Salah is in contention once again following an impressive season with Liverpool.
The 31-year-old Egypt international scored 30 goals across all competitions last season for Liverpool.
Hakimi played an instrumental role in the Morocco side that became the first Africa team to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year.
Hakimi also chipped in with five goals and three assists in Ligue 1 as Paris Saint Germain won the French top flight.
The favourite for this year's award is Nigeria frontman Osimhen.
The 24-year-old's goals helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
Osimhen was named Serie A player of the year earlier this week following a season in which he became the first African to emerge top scorer in the Italian top flight with 26 goals in 32 games.
Osimhen also earned a spot in the Serie A team of the year and finished in eighth position at the recent Ballon D'or awards.
Sadio Mane won the African Footballer of the year in 2022.
