Newcastle Utd Skipper Jamaal Lascelles Out For Up To Nine Months With ACL Injury
Newcastle United have announced that club captain Jamaal Lascelles will be out of action for up to nine months with a serious knee injury.
Lascelles sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament(ACL) damage to his right knee in Newcastle's 4-3 win over West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 30-year-old lasted just 17 minutes of the encounter before going off.
Lascelles, who joined the Magpies from Nottingham Forest in 2014, has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
Newcastle released a club statement on Sunday, which read: “Newcastle United can confirm that club captain Jamaal Lascelles suffered a rupture to the ACL in his right knee during Saturday's victory over West Ham United.
“After seeing a specialist consultant, he is expected to undergo surgery next week and will be out for six-to-nine months.
“Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Jamaal for a full and speedy recovery.”
Lascelles' absence adds to a growing injury list for manager Eddie Howe, which includes Sven Botman, goalkeeper Nick Pope, Joelinton, Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier and Lewis Miley.
Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth and Miguel Almiron also went off injured in Saturday's victory over the Hammers.
