Icardi To Miss Rest Of Season With ACL Injury
Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi has suffered an ACL injury and is set to miss the rest of the season.
Icardi suffered the injury late on in the Turkish side's 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspurs in the Europa League on Thursday.
Icardi has scored six goals in all competitions this season, including two in four Europa League games.
An official statement from the Turkish champions read: "Our football player Mauro Icardi, who was injured in the Tottenham match in the fourth week of the UEFA Europa League, was diagnosed with a rupture in the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus damage in his right knee in the MRI examinations performed at our sponsor hospital Medicana.
"Pre-operative rehabilitation has begun for our player, who is scheduled for surgery."
Icardi joined Galatasaray initially on loan from Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2022 before the move was made permanent a year later.
He has scored 61 goals in 86 appearances for Galatasaray, winning two Turkish league titles.
