Giroud Signs One-Year Contract With MLS Side Los Angeles FC

Giroud announced he will be leaving AC Milan this summer when his contract expires on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old has the option for a further year in the contract with his new side.

Giroud joined AC Milan from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and won the Serie A title in his first season at the San Siro.

The former Montpellier and Arsenal striker has scored 48 goals in 130 appearances during his time at AC Milan.

“It is an incredibly exciting day for all associated with LAFC to welcome Olivier, his wife Jennifer, and his family to the club,” LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington said.

“Olivier has a clear hunger to win, which he has done consistently throughout his club and international career. His championship ambition and his qualities as a man and as a player directly align with ours as a club, therefore we believe Olivier will be a great addition as we continue in our pursuit of more trophies.”

Giroud added: “I am delighted and excited to join LAFC.”

“I can’t wait to get to Los Angeles and to play in front of the 3252 and all of the incredible fans.”

Giroud is France's record goalscorer with 57 goals in 131 appearances.

He won three FA Cups in six years with Arsenal while a three-and-a-half-year stint with Chelsea brought another FA Cup, Europa League and the UEFA Champions League.

Giroud won the FIFA World Cup with France in 2018.
