A £51m transfer fee has exchanged hands between the two clubs and Olmo has agreed a six-year contract until the summer of 2030.

Olmo spent time in Barcelona's youth ranks as a youngster before leaving for Croatia side Dinamo Zagreb in 2014 to hone his skills.

In January 2020, Olmo signed for RB Leipzig and won two DFB-Pokals and one German Super Cup, scoring a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in a 3-0 win last August.

Recently the 26-year-old scored three goals and provided two assists in six games as Spain won EURO 2024.

"A young club, a young player ... We grew up, won our first trophies and made history together," Olmo said on Instagram, announcing his departure from Leipzig.

"Two Cups and the Super Cup are just some of the many unforgettable moments that'll always stay with me. Thank you RB Leipzig, you'll forever be in my heart."

Olmo added in a message to Barcelona's media channels: “I’m here to win every title possible. We are Barça and we must compete for everything. We have the team, we have the players, we have the staff. We are going for it all.

“I am very happy, it’s a dream come true. I’m very happy to return home, with my family and with national teammates. I’m every excited to start all of it.
