The 22-year-old came out on top in a six-man shortlist that also included Kai Havertz, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Jordan Pickford, Bruno Fernandes and Josko Gvardiol.

Palmer scored seven goals in the month of April and assisted once.

His goals included a four-goal haul against Everton and a hat-trick against Manchester United.

Palmer is the first Chelsea player to win the Premier League's player of the month since Eden Hazard in September 2018.

Earlier this week, the twice-capped England international was named Chelsea's player of the year.

He has also been nominated alongside Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Erling Haaland, Virgil Van Dijk, Ollie Watkins, Alexander Isak and Phil Foden for the Premier League player of the season award.

Palmer is also battling it out with Foden, Haaland, Isak, Bukayo Saka, Kobbie Mainoo, Destiny Udogie and William Saliba for the Premier League's young player of the year.

Palmer has scored 26 goals and laid on 13 assists for his teammates this season, having featured 45 times across all competitions.
