Bayern Munich Rule Out Tuchel Staying On As Manager Next Season
Bayern Munich have ruled out the possibility of Thomas Tuchel staying on as manager beyond this season.
A poor run of form earlier this year prompted the Bavarians to reach an agreement to cut ties with Tuchel at the end of this season.
Bayern Munich have lost their Bundesliga crown to Bayer Leverkusen for the first time in 11 seasons but they are into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions and drew 2-2 with Real Madrid on Tuesday.
That upturn in form has led to suggestions that Tuchel might make a u-turn on his pre-planned departure, with some Bayern Munich fans even calling on him to stay on.
But Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen says Tuchel will depart as already planned.
Asked if it was wrong to part ways with Tuchel so early, Dreesen said: "No. You have to judge the decision at the time it was made. It was a different situation.
"Now we have another situation - our clear goal is to reach the final and then hopefully win the Champions League.
“We would all be happy together and then we will go our separate ways.”
Bayern Munich are in discussions with Ralph Rangnick to take over from Tuchel next season.
