Barcelona Extend Contract Of Pau Cubarsi To 2027 With €500m Release Clause
Barcelona have extended the contract of young defender Pau Cubarsi until the summer of 2027.
Cubarsi only broke into the Barcelona first team in January this year but has already made 20 appearances across all competitions in central defence.
The 17-year-old has already been rewarded with his first international caps for Spain, playing two times for La Roja during the March international break.
Barcelona have inserted a €500m release clause in Cubarsi's new contract, highlighting how highly they value him.
An official statement from the Blaugrana read: “FC Barcelona and Pau Cubarsí have reached an agreement to extend the centre back’s contract with the club through to 30 June 2027. The player’s buyout clause has been set at 500 million euros.
“The defender put pen to paper this Thursday morning at an event also attended by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta; first vice-president Rafa Yuste; the director responsible for youth football, Joan Soler; and sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.”
