Ajax Boss Confirms Talks To Sign Henderson From Al Ettifaq
Ajax Amsterdam manager John Van 't Schip has confirmed the club are in talks to sign Jordan Henderson from Al Ettifaq.
Despite signing for Ettifaq from Liverpool just last summer, Henderson has already become disillusioned with life in Saudi Arabia and is looking for a way out.
The England international enjoys a hefty pay packet in the Gulf State as he earns £700,000 a week and will have to reduce his wages to make a move happen.
Speaking ahead of the Eredivisie game against Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday, Van 't Schip told ESPN Netherlands: "There is serious talk going on with Henderson.
"He still has some things to arrange in Saudi Arabia.
"It could be a nice match. It's no secret that we could really use that type of player. Other guys can benefit from that."
Following a stuttering start to the season, Ajax have steadily climbed up to fifth on the Eredivisie table but are still a whooping 23 points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven, who are have been flawless with 17 wins from 17 games in the top flight.
Henderson has featured 19 times for eighth-placed Al Ettifaq this season. Steven Gerrard's side are without a win in their last eight Saudi Pro League games.
