Wolves Confirm Appointment Of Vitor Pereira As New Manager
Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of Vitor Pereira as the club's new manager.
The Portuguese has left his role at Saudi Arabia side Al Shabab, signing an 18-month contract at the 19th placed Premier League side.
Pereira comes in as a replacement for Gary O'Neil, who was sacked on Sunday after Wolves lost 2-1 at home to relegation rivals Ipswich Town.
Pereira's first game in charge of Wolves will come against Leicester City this weekend.
In a statement on the club website, chairman Jeff Shi said: "We are delighted to welcome Vitor Pereira to Wolves as the new head coach of our men’s first-team. Vitor is a highly respected and experienced coach who has achieved success across different leagues and will bring a new approach for the test ahead.
“This is a challenging moment for the club, and we want to thank Vitor for taking on this responsibility. We have full confidence in his ability to guide us back on track, alongside the players and staff, and the entire club will be united in supporting him to achieve success.”
56-year-old Pereira has previously managed the likes of Fenerbahce, FC Porto, Flamengo, Olympiacos and Corinthians.
