Today In History: Aguero Surpasses Henry As Premier League's Record Foreign Goalscorer
Sergio Aguero surpassed Thierry Henry as the Premier League's top scoring foreigner on this day in 2020.
Aguero scored a hat-trick for Manchester City in a 6-1 thrashing of Aston Villa to reach 177 goals in the English top flight.
Before the game, Arsenal legend Henry led the way for foreigners in the top flight with 174 goals across two spells for the Gunners.
Aguero would go on to extend his tally to 184 goals in 275 games for Man City before leaving in the summer of 2021.
The former Argentina international spent 10 years in the blue half of Manchester, having joined from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 and left with five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and six League Cups.
Agüero is also Manchester City's all-time top scorer with 260 goals in 390 appearances.
