Pochettino Ready To Unleash Fit-Again Nkunku On Sheffield Utd
Christopher Nkunku is in line to make his long-awaited debut for Chelsea this weekend after recovering from a serious knee injury.
Nkunku has been included in the Chelsea squad by manager Mauricio Pochettino for Saturday's visit of Sheffield United in the Premier League.
The France international was Chelsea's marquee signing this summer but suffered a knee injury against Borussia Dortmund during pre-season.
The 26-year-old has had to bide his time after returning to training in recent weeks but is finally ready to have a taste of the Premier League against the basement boys.
Quizzed on whether the Frenchman could figure in a Premier League clash with Sheffield United, Blues boss Pochettino told reporters: “Yes, can be involved. That is very good news. To be involved tomorrow and be in the squad and to feel the competition after the pre-season is good news for us.
"We need to be calm and quiet so not to put all the pressure on him. Now he's going to evolve, know the Premier League. It's a big motivation for us, for the team-mates, and the fans to see a player that should be important for us and to be in the squad for the first time.”
Chelsea currently occupy 12th position on the Premier League table.
