Meunier Returns To France To Join Lille On Two-Year Deal

The Belgium defender has departed Turkish side Trabzonspor after barely six months at the club.

Meunier joined Trabzonspor in February following his departure from Borussia Dortmund and made 19 appearances in Turkey, scoring one goal and providing seven assists.

The 32-year-old right back previously starred for Paris Saint Germain for four seasons between 2016 and 2020, winning three Ligue 1 titles.

"Lille was the perfect choice from a sporting and family point of view. With its proximity to Belgium, it's like being at home," Meunier said in a statement.

"My experience in the various European Cups will enable me to coach the youngest members of the dressing room and ensure that they're 100% focused on the club's sporting success."

Lille finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season.

Meunier has won 66 caps for the Belgium national team and was part of the side that finished third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
