Maresca Admits Chelsea Were Confused In 4-1 Loss To Celtic
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted his team were confused in their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Celtic in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Maresca is still looking for his first win as Chelsea manager and his team have now shipped six goals in their two pre-season friendlies so far.
In a fortnight, Chelsea will open their Premier League campaign with a home game against champions Manchester City and Maresca admits his team have a lot to improve upon before the start of the season.
"Off the ball we need to improve things," Maresca said.
"You can see sometimes we confuse when we need to play short and when we need to play a little bit longer but that is part of the process.
"We maintained a high line but when the ball is not under pressure, you need to drop.
"We are still confusing some things on the ball and off the ball. It is normal in this moment when we are trying to do something new."
Chelsea face Club America next on Wednesday in their pre-season programme.
