Immobile Swaps Lazio For Besiktas After Eight Years

Immobile has signed a two-year contract with his new club.

The 34-year-old joined Lazio from Sevilla in the summer of 2016 and scored a club record 207 goals for the Rome-based club.

Immobile's goals dried up last season with just seven strikes recorded in Serie A.

He has been top scorer in Serie A four times, with the first of those coming while at Torino in 2013/2014. The other three have all been with Lazio.

"An exceptional journey, but like all beautiful stories there's a beginning and an end. The fans have been fantastic, they've given me everything," Immobile told Sky Sport Italia while denying any bad blood between him and the club.

"No, it was a decision made with the utmost calm. The last year-and-a-half have not been easy, it is right that this happens now. It is nobody's fault," he said.

"I think the moment has come to say not goodbye, but see you again. This will always remain my home," Immobile added in a farewell video posted by Lazio.

"I will cheer you on. I am a Lazio fan. I send hugs and hope to see you soon."

Immobile won one Coppa Italia trophy and two Italian Super Cups while at Lazio.

He was part of the Italy side that won EURO 2020.
