Fabregas Appointed Permanent Como Manager On Four-Year Contract

Fabregas will lead Como's first Serie A campaign in 21 years when they face Juventus in their opening game on August 19.

The former Spain midfielder briefly led Como on an interim basis last season before serving as an assistant to Osian Roberts.

Fabregas has now acquired the required UEFA coaching licence to enable him take charge as a full-time head coach.

“Como 1907 delighted to confirm that Cesc Fàbregas will become head coach of the men’s team on a four year contract,” the club said in an official statement.

“The appointment comes after a successful campaign last season as interim and assistant coach culminating in the promotion back to Serie A.”

Fabregas said: "I am so happy to be starting this season as head coach and I thank the ownership group for trusting me with this position.

"I share the ambitions of the group and believe this is just the start of where this club can go. It's going to be a tough and important season but myself and the rest of the coaching staff are ready, and we all believe."

Fabregas earned 110 caps for Spain, and was part of the sides that won two European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
