Dani Alves Found Guilty Of Rape, Sentenced To Four-And-Half-Years In Prison

The incident with a young woman took place at a Barcelona night club in December 2022.

Alves had been in pre-trial detention in Spain since being arrested in January 2023.

He initially denied ever knowing the woman when queried by prosecutors before changing his stance, claiming that he had consensual sex with the victim.

The young woman insists she was forced to have sex with the former Juventus and Paris Saint Germain right back.

Alves has also been directed to pay the woman a compensation of €150,000.

A statement from the court read: "The sentence considers that it has been proven that the victim did not consent, and that there is evidence, in addition to the testimony of the plaintiff, to consider the rape proven."

Alves is one of the most decorated footballers in history.

Alves won 23 trophies during the first of two stints with Barcelona, including six La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies.

Alves has been capped 126 times by the Brazil national team.
